Police in Pangasinan and Cagayan provinces destroyed confiscated illegal firecrackers on Saturday, Dec. 27.
Pangasinan
The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office recovered 10,906 illegal firecrackers, mufflers, and “boga” or improvised cannon.
These were destroyed as part of the intensified campaign against the illegal manufacture, sale, possession, and use of prohibited firecrackers and improvised cannons, particularly during the holiday season.
The destruction ceremony was held at the Pangasinan PPO Grandstand in Lingayen in cooperation with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The Pangasinan PPO appealed for the cooperation of the community to ensure a safe, peaceful, and injury-free celebration of the New Year.
Cagayan
The Cagayan Police Provincial Office (CPPO) and BFP destroyed confiscated and surrendered illegal firecrackers at the CPPO headquarters in Tuguegarao City.
Seven-hundred forty-nine illegal firecrackers were destroyed – 331 boga, 180 Five Star, 120 assorted Luces, 58 Piccolo, 21 Pla Pla, nine Kwitis, eight assorted Fountain, three Judas Belts, and 19 Super Lolo.
The destruction was part of intensified operations leading up to the New Year celebration.
The activity was led by Police Lt. Col. Ramil Alipio, deputy provincial director for administration, and Police Lt. Col. Pepito Mendoza, deputy provincial director for operations.
