TACLOBAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-8 said Christmas was generally peaceful in Eastern Visayas region.
Police Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy, PRO-8 chief, attributed the peaceful celebration to careful preparation, proper police deployment, and community cooperation.
“Security was tightened during ‘Simbang Gabi’ to ensure the safety of devotees, while PRO-8 units remained on high alert on Christmas Day to keep the region peaceful,” he said.
The PRO-8 launched "Oplan: Bantay Kalsada" where personnel from the Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) and Tacloban City Police Office (TCPO) were deployed to monitor major roads and accident-prone areas and reduce road crashes, prevent various crimes, and ensure safe travel for the public during the holiday season.
Capoy thanked the public for their continued participation and cooperation. He assured that they will remain ready and vigilant not only during holidays but also in their daily service for the safety and peace of the people in Eastern Visayas.
