Police said Christmas was generally peaceful in the Negros Island Region.
Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) chief Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay credited this to the cooperation of communities in Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, this highly-urbanized city, and Siquijor.
"Christmas is a time of joy, but also a reminder of our shared responsibility for safety," Ibay said.
Ibay also credited this to their active engagement with communities, assisting citizens, providing safety guidance, and promoting responsible holiday practices.
"These actions strengthened the bond between law enforcement and the public, turning vigilance into a shared celebration of safety and unity," Ibay said.
He said the region's preparation, heightened vigilance, and strategic deployment of personnel ensured families could enjoy the holiday season with peace of mind.
Ibay said the intensified patrols, checkpoint operations in key areas, and implementation of rapid-response measures prevented untoward incidents.
These proactive efforts contributed to a smooth and incident-free celebration, reflecting the organization’s unwavering commitment to public safety, he added.
