The northeast monsoon, or “amihan,” will continue to affect Northern Luzon, bringing cloudy skies and light to moderate rains in several areas, while easterlies will influence weather conditions over the rest of the country in the coming days, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Light rains over parts of the Philippines
In its weather forecast issued Saturday, December 27, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon will continue to influence weather conditions over Luzon, bringing cloudy skies and light rains to several areas, while easterlies are affecting the rest of the country.
PAGASA said Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao will experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon. No significant weather impacts are expected in these areas.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will also see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains as the amihan persists. PAGASA noted that these conditions are generally manageable and are not expected to cause major disruptions.
Meanwhile, the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan will be affected by easterlies, resulting in partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. PAGASA warned that during severe thunderstorms, localized flash floods or landslides may occur, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas.
Weekly weather outlook
From December 26 to 27, PAGASA said the “amihan” will bring cloudy skies with rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands. Mainland Cagayan, Apayao, and Isabela are expected to experience mostly cloudy skies with light rains.
The Ilocos Region, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and other parts of Cagayan Valley will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, with no significant weather impacts expected.
In contrast, the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by easterlies or localized thunderstorms.
From Sunday to Tuesday, December 28 to 30, PAGASA said the “amihan” will continue to bring mostly cloudy skies with rains over Batanes and Cagayan. The Ilocos Region, CAR, and the rest of Cagayan Valley will still experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
During this period, the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga are forecast to have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to easterlies.
The rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers brought by localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said.
New Year 2026 weather
From Wednesday to Friday, December 31 to January 2, PAGASA said the “amihan” will persist over Batanes and Cagayan, resulting in mostly cloudy skies with rains.
The Ilocos Region and CAR will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, PAGASA said.
Elsewhere across the Philippines, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers are expected due to easterlies or localized thunderstorms.
The state weather bureau noted that the weather outlook will be updated should there be significant changes through the issuance of 24-hour public weather forecasts and weather advisories.
Meanwhile, PAGASA advised residents, especially those in areas prone to flooding and landslides, to stay alert and monitor official updates.
