Zamboanga City cops net P500,000 illegal firecrackers

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police arrested a firecracker vendor and confiscated P500,000 worth of illegal firecrackers during an entrapment operation on Christmas Eve in this city.
The suspect was identified as Larry Nebres Jr., 47, a resident of Camino Nuevo here.
“Our success in this operation is not measured by the number of arrests, but the number of injuries we have potentially prevented,” city police chief Police Col. Fidel Fortaleza said.
City Licensing Officer Benjie Barredo reminded residents that firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices are still prohibited under Ordinance 632 that aligns with Republic Act 7183, the law regulating the manufacture, sale, distribution, and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices.
