ILOILO CITY – A 25-year-old woman was wounded in an indiscriminate firing incident in Pavia town, Iloilo province on Christmas Day.
She was the first victim of indiscriminate firing in the province this holiday season.
The victim sustained a bullet wound in the left leg after her 37-year-old neighbor fired his unlicensed gun at around 5 p.m.
“This is unfortunate,” said Police Lt. Col. Rolando Araño, spokesperson of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
The suspect was swiftly arrested by the Pavia Municipal Police Station. He remains detained.
A “paltik” (improvised revolver) with a 9mm bullet was recovered from the suspect.
The suspect is facing multiple criminal charges, including using an unlicensed firearm.
The victim underwent operation to remove the bullet.
Meanwhile, police reported that two motorcycles were torched on Christmas Day in the component city of Passi.
