Marcos declares special non-working days in eight LGUs for January celebrations

President Marcos has declared special non-working days in five municipalities and three cities in January 2026 to allow residents to fully participate in local founding anniversaries, festivals, and city fiestas.
In a series of proclamations signed in mid-December, the President approved requests from local governments citing the importance of the celebrations to their communities’ history, culture, and civic life.
Under Proclamation No. 1109, Jan. 5, 2026, Monday, was declared a special non-working day in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, in celebration of its 440th Founding Anniversary.
Proclamation No. 1114 likewise declared Jan. 5 a special non-working day in Bauang, La Union, also marking its 440th Founding Anniversary.
In Currimao, Ilocos Norte, Proclamation No. 1119 declared Jan. 21, Wednesday, a special non-working day for the municipality’s Founding Anniversary.
City anniversaries and fiestas
President Marcos also issued Proclamation No. 1110, declaring Jan. 6 a special non-working day in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental, to mark its 56th Charter Anniversary and 96th year as provincial capital.
In Batangas, Proclamation No. 1117 declared Jan. 16, Friday, a special non-working day in Batangas City to allow residents to fully participate in the city fiesta.
Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 1118 declared Jan. 9, Friday, a special non-working day in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, in celebration of its 86th Founding Anniversary and the Koronadal Hinugyaw Festival.
Municipal festivals and liberation day
In Lian, Batangas, Proclamation No. 1115 declared Jan. 31, Saturday, a special non-working day in observance of the town’s Liberation Day.
Proclamation No. 1116 also declared Jan. 27, Tuesday, a special non-working day in Tantangan, South Cotabato, to mark its 65th Founding Anniversary and the 16th Kulitangtang Festival.
Proclamations Nos. 1109 and 1110 were signed on Dec. 15, while Proclamations Nos. 1114 to 1119 were signed on Dec. 16.
