Shooting mars Christmas gathering in QC; suspect arrested
A man was wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, early Wednesday, Dec. 25
According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the incident occurred at around 3:00 a.m. in front of a motorcycle shop on IBP Road, where a group had gathered to celebrate Christmas.
Police said the suspect, identified as alias “Elmer,” 47, allegedly punched one of the victims during the gathering.
As another individual attempted to flee the commotion, the suspect reportedly drew a firearm and shot him, hitting the victim in the head and left arm.
The victim was rushed to Rosario Maclang General Hospital for medical treatment, while the gunman fled the scene.
An hour later, operatives from Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13) arrested the suspect inside his motorcycle shop. Recovered from the suspect were a .45-caliber para-ordnance pistol, a magazine, seven live rounds of ammunition, and two fired cartridge cases.
Police also took into custody four individuals identified as Angela, Roselyn, Shaira, and a 16-year-old female — for allegedly obstructing law enforcement officers during the arrest and verbally harassing responding personnel.
The suspect is facing charges of frustrated murder, while the four others will be charged with obstruction of justice before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
