The First Family (Facebook)
President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos revealed that their Christmas wish this year is simple and personal: to finally have grandchildren.
In a lighthearted moment from the President’s Christmas vlog posted on his official social media accounts, Marcos shared that the topic has become a familiar refrain at home.
“Ang lagi naming tinatanong sa tatlong anak kong lalaki, ba’t wala pa kaming apo (What we always ask our three sons is, why don’t we have any grandchildren yet)?” the President said.
The First Lady quickly chimed in, echoing the sentiment with a smile.
“Tama ’yan, honey. Sana all. ’Yan yung Christmas wish ko (That’s right, honey. How I wish. That’s my Christmas wish),” she said.
Turning to the camera, as if addressing their sons, Marcos teased them further.
“Wala kayong mabola, ’no? (There’s no one you can fool, right)?” he added.
A candid look at family dynamics
In an October interview with the Manila Bulletin, Marcos said he never tried to mold his children into a single image.
“I’ve always treated them as whole persons,” he said.
“I just dealt with them as people,” he added, noting that each of his sons has a distinct personality developed over time.
Despite their differences, Marcos said they share a common effect on him.
“They all crack me up. They all make me laugh a lot,” he said.
‘Yes, please’ to becoming a lolo
When asked directly in the same interview what advice he would give to anyone hoping to make him a grandfather, Marcos answered with characteristic humor.
“Well, I’m at the stage in my life where I would say, yes, please,” he said.
“But I would also add good luck. Knowing my sons, good luck with that,” he added.
Birthday jokes and parental nudges
The President’s playful push toward grandparenthood has surfaced before in his public remarks.
In 2024, Marcos revealed that he had gifted his eldest son, Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos, a tongue-in-cheek book titled “Sex for Lazy People” for his 30th birthday.
“It will help you,” the President said in a 2024 vlog, holding up the book and laughing.
“I found you this guide,” he added, joking that his son was already “practically a senior.”
The book “Sex for Lazy People” is written by Ginny Hogan, a writer and stand-up comic based in New York City. It is described as a humorous go-to guide for making “all sex positions as easy and effortless as possible so you can get more bang for your f*ck.”
It features 50 positions and hilarious and helpful tips and tricks for staying lazy while having sex.
The First Lady, for her part, gifted Sandro a different kind of encouragement, giving him a book titled Be More Taylor, which focuses on life lessons, creativity, and relationships.
