BAGUIO CITY – The first born or “panganay” of working parents here was named by the National Correspondents Club of Baguio (NCCB) as this year’s Lucky Christmas Baby on Christmas Day.
Baby boy Kyro was born at 3:04 a.m. at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center to Charlize Nicolie Dizon Mariano and Gibriel Malupeng Estoque, both 21, of Aurora Hill, this city.
"Kyro is God’s blessing to us. Thank you Lord,” Mariano said. “Maraming maraming salamat po sa mga taong tumulong, sa doctor, mga nursing staff ng BGHMC," Mariano added. (Thank you for the assistance, doctors nurses of BGHMC)
The couple thanked the organizers of the project. Kyro received cash and assorted items.
Lucky Christmas Baby is a special Yuletide project of the NCCB that seeks to share joy to the less privileged.
A brainchild of the late Nars Padilla, founding president of the NCCB, the program started in the 1970s and was known as Silahis ng Pasko.
Padilla was a respected sportsman and program manager who also served as a city councilor, tourism officer, national executive of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, and the first camp director of Gintong Alay.
NCCB officials presented gifts in behalf of the organization alongside social worker Mariete Mae Yapyap, representing Liza Bulayungan, head of the City Social and Welfare Development Office (CSWDO).
