Marvel hints at the return of Chris Evans in 'Avengers: Doomsday' trailer
Avengers: Doomsday has just confirmed the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Entertainment Weekly has reported that the teaser signifies Steve's return to the big screen after several years. The last time fans saw Chris Evans as Steve Rogers was when he passed the shield to fellow superhero Sam Wilson, portrayed by Anthony Mackie, as he retired from being a superhero at the end of Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
In the released teaser on Dec. 23, Steve appears very content with his retirement plans. The former Captain America is shown parking his motorcycle in front of a cozy house, then heading inside to check out his old uniform. However, Steve ultimately returns the uniform to its drawer, symbolizing his decision to put aside his hero duties.
As the camera pans around, we see Steve's face as he picks up a bouncing baby. The teaser concludes with the announcement that "Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday," along with a countdown to the movie's debut next year.
Avengers: Doomsday will be in theaters on Dec. 18, 2026. Check out the trailer:
