Anti-infrastructure corruption crusader Batangas 1st district Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste has instructed several people to expose his files in the event that "something" happens to him.
Leviste made this revelation on Christmas eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24, just hours after releasing to the public a 19-page list of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) project proponents under the P6.326-trillion national budget for 2025.
While the list didn't specify the congressmen-proponents' insertions--if any--it indicates the millions worth of "allocable" amounts per House member. He says these are annual earmarked amounts that a district congressman may allocate.
(Merry Christmas to all of you! We’re taking a break from sharing files to have Noche Buena with my mother and our Nanay Fely. Even though it’s Christmas, we still talked about work...)
The 32-year-old solon then shared what he told his mother, Senator Loren Legarda.
????????" said Leviste.
(I reminded my mother of my instruction to various people: if anything happens to me, make public all the files I left behind and finish the information-sharing we started. Merry Christmas to all of us! ????????)
The neophyte cognressman didn't identify the people that he gave his grim instructions to.
Former DPWH undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral, the person who gave the proponents list to Leviste, reportedly died last Dec. 18 after falling into a ravine in Benguet. Authorities are currently looking into whether or not there was foul play in the incident.
In a recent podcast with the Manila Bulletin, Leviste confirmed that he beefed up his security detail.
