Seven firework-related injury cases have been recorded nationwide so far this holiday season, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
The DOH said the cases were recorded from Dec. 21, up to 4 a.m. of Dec. 23.
Of the total, the agency said 57 percent of the victims were aged 19 years old and below, while 43 percent were aged 20 years old and above.
Despite the low number of cases, the DOH reiterated its warning against the use of firecrackers.
“Huwag magpaputok (Do not light firecrackers),” the health department said.
Per the DOH, “boga” and 5-Star firecrackers accounted for the highest number of reported injuries.
The DOH urged the public to immediately seek medical care in case of an accident involving firecrackers.
“Agad na dalhin sa ospital kung may aksidente dulot ng paputok (Immediately bring the victim to the hospital in case of a firecracker-related accident),” the DOH said.
For emergency situations, the agency reminded the public to contact emergency responders.
“Tumawag agad sa National Emergency Hotline 911 para sa emergency medical assistance (Immediately call the National Emergency Hotline 911 for emergency medical assistance),” it said.
