Two barangays in Navotas City have been officially declared drug-free following validation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), further expanding the list of communities in the city cleared of illegal drugs.
Bagumbayan South and North Bay Boulevard North were declared drug-cleared effective on Dec. 18, 2025, after PDEA confirmed their compliance with national standards on drug prevention, intervention, and community participation.
Mayor John Rey Tiangco said the achievement was the result of collective effort at the barangay level.
“This accomplishment reflects the strong cooperation between the barangays, our law enforcement partners, and the community,” Tiangco said.
He also appealed to residents to help sustain their communities' drug-free status.
“We urge Navoteños to be vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to TXT JRT. Let us continue working together to win this fight and keep our city and people safe,” Tiangco added.
PDEA’s validation included checks on how barangays addressed individuals listed in their unified watchlists, enforced drug-free workplace policies, and maintained active anti-drug advocacy among officials and residents.
With the latest declaration, Bagumbayan South and North Bay Boulevard North became the 15th and 16th barangays out of Navotas’ 18 barangays to be declared drug-cleared.
The city government said it will continue strengthening its anti-drug initiatives through its Bidahan community-based treatment and rehabilitation program, drug awareness lectures for students, regular drug testing for government personnel, and sustained monitoring to ensure that drug-free status is maintained.
