1 dead, 5 injured after backhoe-laden truck loses brakes in Tayabas City
TAYABAS CITY, Quezon— One person was reportedly killed while five others were injured after a trailer truck loaded with a backhoe reportedly lost its brakes and plowed into two parked vehicles along the national road in Barangay Camaysa here, Tayabas City.
Police said the trailer truck was traveling from Lucban, Quezon.
Based on initial investigation, the incident occurred at around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, while a Volkswagen car and a Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck were parked on the right side of the road near a restaurant and resort.
Authorities said the truck, which was reportedly traveling at high speed and had lost its brakes, rammed into the two parked vehicles, causing them to be dragged underneath the truck.
The accident took place along the National Road in Barangay Camaysa, Tayabas City.
All vehicles involved in the collision were declared total wrecks.
Responders from the Tayabas City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) immediately transported the injured occupants of the truck to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile,
personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Tayabas assisted the victims from the two affected vehicles.
