The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) boosted nationwide support for Filipino workers, with 1,020 applicants hired on the spot and hundreds of millions released in financial and livelihood aid.
DOLE Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma said the Department focused on delivering tangible results rather than holding ceremonial celebrations.
Marking its 92nd anniversary on December 8 at the Occupational Safety and Health Center Complex in Quezon City, DOLE also conducted a medical mission and mini sportsfest to promote employee health and wellness.
From Nov. 29 to Dec. 11, DOLE regional offices, in coordination with local Public Employment Service Offices, held job fairs at 40 sites nationwide.
The events offered positions for various roles, including cashier, service crew, production operator, customer service representative, teacher, and visual inspector.
Financial assistance also reached thousands of beneficiaries.
Over 171,000 recipients of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) received more than P919 million.
Meanwhile, 11,311 individuals were granted livelihood aid totaling P273 million under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
Laguesma stressed the need for stronger collaboration between labor and management to create more employment opportunities and ensure the Department remains proactive in responding to labor market challenges.
“We will strive to surpass our past achievements and the assistance we have provided over the past nine decades,” he said.
