The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday, Dec. 22, expressed deep sorrow over the death of Raymond Manangat Cantonjos, the schools division superintendent of DepEd Masbate.
In an official statement, the agency said it is mourning the loss of a public servant who dedicated his career to serving the education sector in the province.
“The Department of Education (DepEd) expresses its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Schools Division Superintendent Raymond Manangat Cantonjos of DepEd Masbate, who died on Sunday, December 21,” it stated.
DepEd said it was “deeply saddened by this tragic incident” and paid tribute to Cantonjos’ service to the education community.
The education department added that its thoughts and prayers are with Cantonjos’ family and colleagues.
Meanwhile, the Schools Division of Masbate also issued a separate statement mourning the passing of its schools chief, describing him as a leader whose impact will be long remembered.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Schools Division Superintendent, RAYMUNDO M. CANTONJOS, CESO VI,” it said.
The division highlighted Cantonjos’ leadership and dedication throughout his tenure, noting the lasting mark he left on educators and learners in the province.
“His commitment to excellence inspired us all, and his legacy will continue to guide us in our pursuit of academic excellence and service to our community,” the Schools Division of Masbate added.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.”
DepEd did not disclose further details on the circumstances of his passing.
