Cop shot dead in Iligan City wake

ILIGAN CITY – A police officer was gunned down while attending a wake on Monday night in Purok 9, Barangay Tipanoy, this city.
The Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) identified the victim as Police Chief Master Sgt. Mark Hermoso, assigned to the Iligan City Mobile Force Company.
Investigation said a man driving a motorcycle appeared and fired at the victim with a .45 caliber pistol.
The gunman fled and Hermoso was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead from multiple bullet wounds.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
ICPO chief Police Col. Jerry A. Tambis condoled with the victim’s family.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of our fallen personnel. We urge the public to remain calm and to cooperate with authorities as we continue to ensure peace and order in the city.” (with a report from PNA)
