BACOLOD CITY – A 42-year-old mother, who allegedly engaged in the illegal drug trade to support the treatment of her son, was arrested by police in a buy-bust operation in Purok Magtiayon, Barangay 10, this city, on Friday, Dec. 19.
Seized from Neneng by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) was 230 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.564 million.
Police Lt. Richard Legada, assistant CDEU head, said the suspect was placed under surveillance for one week after receiving information on her alleged illegal drug activities in her barangay.
Legada said her supply was allegedly sourced from Barangay 2 here and being sold in front of her house through her “sari-sari” store.
She also reportedly used her delivery vehicle as front in illegal drug transactions, Legada added.
Legada said this was the first time that she was apprehended for a drug offense.
He added that the suspect claimed that she was supporting the lifetime medication of her son for his heart condition.
The suspect is detained at Police Station 2 and will be charged with sale and possession of dangerous drugs.
Police tagged the suspect as a high-value individual.
