Grade 3 pupil suffers injuries after falling from Muntinlupa elementary school building
A Grade 3 male pupil will undergo operation for injuries after falling from a Muntinlupa public elementary school building on Dec. 19.
The accident happened during the school Christmas Party at Bayanan Elementary School Unit 1 in Barangay Bayanan, Muntinlupa.
The pupil entered an enclosed area where there was an opening from the second floor down to the ground floor. The boy fell and suffered injuries.
In a statement issued on Dec. 20, the office of the school principal of Bayanan Elementary School Unit I said, “On December 19, 2025, an incident occurred involving a Grade 3 pupil during the school's Christmas party.”
“School personnel responded immediately to ensure the child's safety, and the pupil was promptly transported to a nearby private hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. First aid was administered on-site, followed by diagnostic procedures, including X-rays and a CT scan, to thoroughly assess the child's condition,” it said.
The school belied claims on social media “suggesting negligence on the part of the school. To the contrary, our staff acted promptly and responsibly, providing immediate assistance and ensuring the pupil received urgent professional medical care.”
“At present, the pupil is confined in the hospital and is awaiting operation. The school administration continues to closely monitor the situation and remains in coordination with the family to provide necessary support. We express our sincere appreciation to Honorable Mayor Ruffy Biazon and Honorable Congressman Jimmy Fresnedi for their swift response and the financial support provided to the family,” the school said.
It added, “Their actions demonstrate the ongoing dedication of our local government leaders to the well-being of our community, especially our youth. In addition, the school, teachers, parents and concerned groups and individuals have extended financial help to the family to assist with medical expenses.”
The Department of Education, in coordination with the school administration, “is undertaking a comprehensive review of the incident. Necessary measures will be implemented to enhance existing safety protocols and further safeguard all learners on school premises.”
“We kindly seek the public's understanding and cooperation as we continue to maintain the highest standards of safety in our educational environment. The school administration remains fully committed to protecting the welfare of every pupil under our care,” the school said.
A netizen named Brenda, who identified herself as an aunt of the pupil, said the child is confined in a hospital and will undergo operation on Dec. 22.
“All procedures needed yesterday was done and now we are still waiting for the Result. Maraming Salamat po at Buhay ang pamangkin ko! Salamat sa Diyos. Masakit para sa amin ang nangyari, subalit sa kabila ng pinagdadaanan namin ngayon kasama ang aking pamilya lubos kami nagpapasalamat sa mga taong patuloy na ginagawang instrumento para iparamdam ang kanilang suporta sa pagtulong gamit ang iba't ibang paraan (Thank you very much that my nephew is alive! Thank you to God. What happened was painful for us, but despite what we are going through now with my family, we are very grateful to the people who continue to be instruments to show their support in helping in various ways),” the netizen posted on social media.
