CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – The Police Regional Office 4-A has implemented a comprehensive security and deployment plan to ensure the safety of the people during the holiday season in the Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon region.
Police personnel have been deployed to key areas of convergence, major thoroughfares, transport terminals, commercial centers, and places of worship, with heightened deployment on Dec. 24 and 31.
Border control points (BCPs) and static and spot checkpoints (SSCPs) have been activated across the region, supported by augmented units and partner agencies.
Police are also implementing the “Iwas Paputok” campaign, with strict enforcement of local ordinances and executive orders banning firecrackers, alongside the regulation of firecracker display areas and community fireworks display zones.
Contingency plans to address potential incidents such as traffic congestion, fire emergencies, unruly individuals, protest actions, natural disasters, bomb threats, and active shooter situations to ensure swift and coordinated response have also been implemented.
“Our goal is to ensure that every Filipino in Calabarzon can celebrate the holidays peacefully and safely. We have intensified police visibility, strengthened our security measures, and reinforced coordination with local government units and partner agencies to prevent crime and respond immediately to any eventuality,” Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas, PRO 4-A chief, said.
Meanwhile, a 67-year-old man was apprehended by police for multiple counts of sexual assault on Saturday, Dec. 20, in Barangay Gonzalez, Tanauan City, Batangas.
Police identified the suspect as Hinong, 67, the seventh most wanted person in the province.
Bail was set P700,000. His warrant of arrest was issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 6, Tanauan City, dated Dec. 4.
He is in the custody of the Tanauan police station for proper documentation and proper disposition.
In Lopez, Quezon, government security forces seized a machine gun and bullets from the New People’s Army on Sunday, Dec. 21.
Initial assessment indicated that it was the weapon seized by the NPA during an attack on a Philippine Coast Guard station and a Philippine Navy vessel in Real, Quezon, in August 2003.
