Two ride-hailing firms back LTFRB, vow 0% commission from surge pricing
(LTFRB)
As the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) started implementing the reduction of surge pricing on Saturday, Dec. 20, two Transport Network Companies (TNCs) announced that they will not get commission from what their partner drivers would get.
In a statement, Lalamove announced a zero percent commission on the entire fare for its Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) drivers.
“In support of the LTFRB’s recent directive for TNVS and TNC operators, Lalamove has decided to implement a 0% commission on the entire fare for our TNVS partner drivers and ease surge pricing for Lalamove Ride commuters so rides can be accessible to everyone as they celebrate the Holiday,” the statement read.
The zero percent commission on surge pricing for its TNVS partners will be until Jan. 4, according to Lalamove.
For its part, InDrive said it has not obtained any commission from surge pricing since Dec. 17.
“The LTFRB clearly said that it is prohibited to get commission from TNVS platforms in the surge portion for that period (Dec. 20 to Jan. 4, 2026). As additional support this Holiday season, InDrive started the 0% commission on surge portion starting on Dec. 17,” the statement posted in its Facebook account read.
It said it will release an in-app announcement on the specific details of the guide and sample computation.
Last week, the LTFRB issued a memorandum cutting the surge pricing by 50 percent amid complaints from passengers.
As a balancing action, the agency prohibited TNCS from getting commission from the reduced surge pricing.
