PAGASA: Cloudy skies, isolated rains likely on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
Rains, cloudy skies seen nationwide as weather systems persist

Cloudy weather with isolated to scattered rains is expected to persist across parts of the country in the coming days, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as multiple weather systems continue to affect various areas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In its weather forecast on Saturday, December 20, PAGASA said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting southern Mindanao, while the northeast monsoon or “amihan” is affecting Extreme Northern Luzon. The easterlies, on the other hand, are influencing the rest of the country.
These weather systems, PAGASA said, are expected to bring periods of rain, thunderstorms, and cloudy skies across various regions, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides in the coming days.
December 19 to 20: ITCZ, ‘amihan,’ easterlies to prevail
From Friday to Saturday (December 19–20), PAGASA said the ITCZ will affect Mindanao and Palawan, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Caraga and the Davao Region.
Meanwhile, the “amihan” will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains over Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), while the Ilocos Region will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies or localized thunderstorms.
December 21 to 23: Shear line brings rains over Luzon
From Sunday to Tuesday (December 21–23), PAGASA said a shear line will continue to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains will persist over CAR, while the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the “amihan.”
Mindanao and most parts of the Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with possible localized rain showers or thunderstorms.
December 24 to 26: Cloudy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
From Wednesday to Friday (December 24–26), including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms will continue over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Quezon due to the shear line.
Cagayan Valley and CAR will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains, while the Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon will remain partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated light rains because of the “amihan.”
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will generally have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with brief rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA urged the public, especially those traveling for the holidays, to monitor weather updates, remain alert for possible flooding or landslides, and take necessary precautions amid changing weather conditions.
