Korean stars Kim Myung-soo, Choi Bo-min appointed TPB PHL tourism ambassadors
The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines appointed Korean stars Kim Myung-soo and Choi Bo-min as their newest tourism ambassadors.
The appointment of the two stars, who are both actors and singers, is aimed at strengthening the bond between the Philippines and South Korea, especially in travel.
Kim Myung-soo (김명수) and Choi Bo-min (최보민) attended the official announcement ceremony on Dec. 14 at the Consuelo by Chef Vince Garcia restaurant in Pampanga.
The two wore creations by Filipino designer Avel Bacudio, featuring intricate embroidery inspired by Filipino elements such as jeepneys, the “bahay kubo,” and street vendors, and were crafted from handwoven abaca, piña, silk cocoon, and inabel.
The TPB is a government agency under the Department of Tourism “to market and promote the Philippines domestically and internationally as a world-class tourism and MICE destination, in strategic partnership with private and public stakeholders to deliver a unique high-value experience for visitors, significantly contributing to increased arrivals, receipts and investments to the country.”
Kim Myung-soo and Choi Bo-min arrived in the Philippines on Dec. 13 and 14 and started exploring places in the country.
They visited the Beverly Place Golf Club in Clark, Pampanga, known for its beautiful scenery, excellent facilities, and a premium leisure atmosphere.
The following day, the two stars participated in the Puma Clark Half Marathon. Choi Bo-min joined the 5K run alongside local fans, while Kim Myung-soo took the stage with TPB’s chief operating officer, Marga Nograles.
Kim Myung-soo mentioned his desire to visit Siargao soon and even hinted at inviting his fellow Infinite members for the next trip.
The two were chosen as TPB tourism ambassadors for their connections to the Philippines and influence in Asia.
Kim Myung-soo has visited the Philippines several times for concerts and fan meetings, and has deep bonds with Filipino fans.
His acting credits include the series “Dare to Love Me,” “Numbers,” “Royal Secret Agent,” “Welcome,” and “The Emperor: Owner of the Mask.”
Choi Bo-min has been steadily building a loyal Filipino fanbase since joining the local TV series “Beauty Empire,” spending a total of four months traveling back and forth to the Philippines.
The extended time allowed him to immerse himself in the culture, explore different locations, and experience local cuisine, further strengthening his familiarity with the country. With a new drama set to premiere next year, his profile is on the rise, helping to bridge even more Korean fans to the Philippines.
Choi Bo-min, a former member of K-pop boy band Golden Child, has also appeared in the series “18 Again,” “Melting Me Softly,” and “A-Teen 2.”
The two artists are supported in the Philippines through local management and agent services provided by GLXY Talent Management, a subsidiary of Universal Records Inc.
