China's new envoy meets First Lady Liza Marcos over luncheon
China's new ambassador in Manila shared a light moment with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos near the Malacañan Palace in a luncheon that was hosted just weeks after his arrival in the Philippines.
The Chinese embassy said Ambassador Jing Quan attended a luncheon hosted by Marcos at the Laperal Mansion, the official presidential guest house, on Dec. 17.
In photos shared on its Facebook page, Quan, Marcos, and other diplomats from the Chinese Embassy, including Chargé d'Affaires Zhou Zhiyong, sat down for some talks, had lunch and enjoyed glasses of wine.
They also toured the mansion, according to the event program posted on Facebook.
"Thank you, Madam First Lady, for your hospitality," the embassy said.
Marcos also posted about the luncheon on Instagram, as she described the embassy as "our partners in Chinatown's revitalization, culture, and heritage."
Quan, a senior Chinese diplomat, assumed the post of former Chinese ambassador in Manila Huang Xilian as he arrived in the country early in December.
