PIGGATAN Detour Bridge
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon opened the Piggatan Detour Bridge in Alcala town, Cagayan province on Friday, Dec. 19.
It was built after the old bridge collapsed on Oct. 6, due to an overweight vehicle. Traffic and travel were severely disrupted as a result.
Dizon said the government fulfilled its promise to construct the detour bridge within just three months.
He assured that the structure is of high quality, durable, and safe.
Dizon was joined in the event by Cagayan Gov. Edgar Aglipay and Alcala Mayor Tin Antonio.
The two local government officials thanked the government for the prompt construction of the bridge.
The temporary has a maximum capacity of 40 tons.
Vehicles weighing more than 40 tons were advised to take an alternate route – the Junction Gattaran-Cumao-Capissayan-Santa Margarita Road via Baybayog-Baggao-Dalin-Santa Margarita Road and vice versa.
