Bagong Henerasyon (BH) Party-list Rep. Robert Nazal has congratulated the Filipinas women's football team for not just winning the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games championship, but for "shattering barriers" for Pinays.
Nazal said the Filipinas' gold medal-winning performance in the ongoing SEA Games in Thailand transcends athletic achievement and underscores what Filipino women can accomplish when given opportunity, support, and trust.
“The Filipinas did not just win a championship. They shattered barriers. This historic gold medal proves that Filipino women belong at the highest level of competition, leadership and excellence,” the assistant minority leader said.
“This victory reflects the very principles BH has long championed: women empowerment, equal opportunity, and recognition of women’s strength in every field,” he added.
Nazal stressed that the team’s breakthrough should serve as a call to action for both public and private institutions to invest more in women’s sports and women-led development programs.
“When women are empowered, the nation moves forward. The Filipinas showed discipline, courage and unity—values that deserve sustained support, not just applause,” he said.
Former BH Party-list Rep. Bernadette Herrera, a long-time advocate of women’s rights and empowerment, said the Filipinas’ historic gold medal resonates deeply with millions of Filipino women who continue to fight for visibility, respect and equal footing.
“This victory belongs to every Filipina who dared to dream bigger,” Herrera said. “The Filipinas proved that women deserve space at the highest level—and that they know how to claim it.”
Herrera noted that BH Party-list has consistently pushed for policies that protect women, expand their opportunities and recognize their contributions across all sectors, from sports and labor to governance and community leadership.
“This moment reminds us that women empowerment is not just a slogan. It is a national responsibility. The Filipinas inspire young girls to believe that their place is not on the sidelines, but at the center of the game,” she said.
