370 newly appointed cops to boost Ilocos police
The Police Regional Office (PRO)-1 (Ilocos) will soon have an additional 370 personnel after the newly appointed batch completes their training.
PRO-1 chief Police Brig. Gen. Dindo R. Reyes, who administered the oath, challenged the new recruits to uphold the honor of the badge they now wear.
“Today marks a defining moment in your lives as you take your oath and commit yourselves to a calling that demands sacrifice, integrity, and dedication to serving others above personal interests,” Reyes said.
He emphasized that becoming a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) is a noble profession and urged the recruits to value public service and place the welfare of the people above personal convenience.
During the ceremony, a representative from the Land Bank of the Philippines facilitated the symbolic distribution of ATM cards to the newly appointed personnel.
In a phone interview on Friday, Police Major Divina Albino, chief of the PRO-1 information office, said the new batch started their six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course at the Regional Training Center in Aringay, La Union, following their oathtaking ceremony.
The training includes tactical and other activities and subjects related to police matters, such as handling firearms.
Albino said this will be followed by another six-month Public Safety Field Training Program, an on-the-job training at the different police stations in the region.
"Even during training, they will already receive P29,668 in base pay per month," she said.
The 370 recruits were selected from a pool of 2,418 applicants.
Of the total, 350 were selected (285 males, 65 females) from the Attrition Recruitment Program, while out of the 108 applicants in the Regular Recruitment Program, 14 males and six females passed.
