Nurse rider loses balance, dies after being run over by modern jeepney in Marikina
A 35-year-old nurse died after allegedly losing her balance while riding a motorcycle and being accidentally run over by a modern jeepney in Marikina City on Wednesday morning, Dec. 17.
According to the Marikina City Police Station, the accident occurred along A. Bonifacio Avenue near Kabo Pio Street in Barangay Barangka, where both vehicles were traveling in the same direction, with the modern jeepney in the outer lane and the motorcycle to its right.
Upon reaching the place of the incident, police said the motorcycle rider suddenly lost her balance and fell to the left, where she was run over by the rear wheel of the modern jeepney.
The Marikina Rescue 161 rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival due to severe injuries.
Meanwhile, the 45-year-old modern jeepney driver is being held at the Marikina City Police Station custodial facility and may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
