Notorious LRT thief caught on video nabbed by MPD - Mayor Isko

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso announced on Wednesday, Dec. 17, the arrest of the pickpocket caught on video stealing from a passenger at the LRT Central Station.

Domagoso identified the suspect as "Jerwin," a resident of Parañaque City.

According to the mayor, Jerwin was arrested by the Manila Police District (MPD) on Dec. 7 during a manhunt operation, which was initiated after the video of his crime went viral on social media garnering over 2.3 million views.

He added that despite spotting the camera recording him, the suspect shamelessly continued stealing the victim's belongings before escaping.

"Nagpapasalamat po tayo sa mga netizen sa patuloy na pagbabantay at pagbibigay-alam sa mga awtoridad. Asahan ninyo na ang pamahalaang lungsod at ang inyong kapulisan ay kakampi ninyo—at sisikapin naming pairalin ang batas at kaayusan sa lungsod ng Maynila (We thank netizens for their continued vigilance and reporting to the authorities. Please expect that the city government and your police force will be on your side—and we will strive to enforce law and order in the city of Manila)," Domagoso said.
