The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will launch a nationwide school-based recruitment drive starting January 2026 to hire fresh talent and inject new energy into the agency.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the campaign will cover top universities across the country, including the University of the Philippines (UP), the University of Santo Tomas (UST), De La Salle University (La Salle), and Ateneo de Manila University (Ateneo).
It will also reach Mapua University (Mapua), Far Eastern University (FEU), Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), and the University of the East (UE).
Dizon emphasized that the drive aims to reach students not just in Metro Manila but also in various regions nationwide.
The recruitment will focus on hiring new engineers and accountants to fill key positions and support DPWH’s modernization efforts.
"The future of the DPWH lies in the fresh blood that will join this agency. The most important resource of any organization is its people, and the changes in DPWH officials will dictate whether the agency merely returns to the old ways or truly transforms," Dizon said.
He appealed to students to join the agency despite past controversies, highlighting the importance of idealism and patriotism.
"I will personally go around to convince you to join us… We need young, dynamic, idealistic people to join DPWH," Dizon added.
Dizon also called on schools to actively support the recruitment drive, framing it as a partnership to bring integrity and energy to the agency.
