Abi Marquez brings joy to children through cooking and Christmas giving
The food content creator known as the "Lumpia Queen" joins World Vision Philippines as its newest ambassador
World Vision Philippines welcomed food content creator Abi Marquez, also known as the “Lumpia Queen,” as its newest ambassador through a meaningful visit to one of World Vision’s areas in Manila, where she spent time with children during a Kiddie Kitchen session.
The activity introduced children to basic kitchen skills such as peeling fruits and decorating pancakes. The session was filled with laughter and excitement as the children explored food in a fun and creative way. To end the day, the children surprised Abi with a special song performance, while she shared noche buena gifts with each of them.
Abi shared that her experience with World Vision deepened her appreciation for the organization’s work and its commitment to children and families.
“I’m really happy to join World Vision Philippines,” said Abi Marquez. “Seeing how World Vision creates safe spaces for children and brings families together, especially through something as simple and meaningful as food, reminded me how important it is to support their work and be part of their mission.”
The visit also highlighted World Vision Philippines’ ongoing noche buena campaign, which encourages Filipinos to share hope by helping families prepare a meaningful Christmas Eve meal. Through a one-time donation of at least P1,000, donors can help provide noche buena gift packs to a sponsored child and another child without a sponsor yet, allowing both families to celebrate Noche Buena together.
This year, World Vision Philippines aims to provide noche buena gifts to at least 24,000 children nationwide.
“More than giving gift noche buena packs, this campaign brings food to the table and hope into homes,” said World Vision Philippines national director Dr. Herbert Q. Carpio. “Noche buena is a reminder that families facing hardship are not forgotten, and that together, we can share joy and togetherness.”
Beginning December, World Vision Philippines distributed noche buena gifts to communities across the country. In Malabon, more than 800 noche buena packs reached families, while in areas in the Visayas and Mindanao, thousands of children received gifts during community celebrations joined by sponsors. Activities included games, Christmas card presentations, and moments of shared joy that made the season meaningful for children and families.
Through partnerships with ambassadors, sponsors, and donors, World Vision Philippines continues to use food as a way to bring hope, strengthen families, and build brighter futures for children.
