8 Metro Manila cities did not spend confidential funds in 2024
Eight of 16 cities in Metro Manila did not use their confidential funds in 2024, the Commission on Audit (COA) said.
These cities were identified in the 2024 COA audit reports as Mandaluyong, Malabon, Las Piñas, Navotas, Pasig, Taguig, Makati, and Valenzuela.
The reports also stated that a total of P483.93 million in confidential funds were used by the other eight cities in 2024 compared to P748.49 million they spent in 2023.
It said that the City of Manila spent the highest amount at P120 million, followed by Pasay City at P80 million. Quezon City closely followed at P75 million, Caloocan City at P70.5 million, Parañaque City at P49.5 million, Muntinlupa City at P47.93 million, Marikina City at P25 million, and San Juan City at P16 million.
Only Caloocan City and Muntinlupa City increased its use of confidential funds, with P60 million in 2023 to P70.5 million in 2024 and P44.29 million in 2023 to P47.93 million in 2024, respectively.
The rest of the cities either maintained their use of confidential funds or decreased it, the COA said.
Manila used P120 million in 2023 and 2024; Marikina City, P25 million; and San Juan City, P16 million.
On the other hand, Parañaque City used P49.5 million the past two years and Pasay City spent P80 million.
Quezon City was the only city which decreased the use of confidential funds from P100 million in 2023 to P75 million in 2024.
