BANGKOK — The Philippine triathletes put up a masterful performance and ran away with a triple-gold showing in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games at the Lean Mae Phim, Rayong on Wednesday, Dec. 17
The women’s team composed of Kim Mangrobang, Kira Ellis and Raven Alcoseba stamped their class in the race which they only finished in just one hour, 14 minutes and 10 seconds.
Their time was over 30 seconds clear of their closest pursuer in Indonesia which clocked 1:10:48 for the silver followed by Singapore with a 1:12:00 time.
The strong start to the day for Team PH was also followed by the men’s team composed of Aki Lorbes, Matthew Hermosa and Fer Casares.
They timed 1:04:05 to edge Singapore, which clocked 1:04:15 to settle for the silver, and Indonesia, which recorded 1:04:35.
The mixed relay team, consisting of Ellis, Casares, Alcoseba and Andrew Kim Remolino was just as dominant after also copping a gold to complete a sweep of the triathlon relay events.
