Retired colonel gets P100,000 from Muntinlupa city government on his 100th birthday
A Muntinlupa resident celebrated his 100th birthday with a P100,000 cash gift from the city government.
Mayor Rufy Biazon personally delivered the P100,000 check to Iluminado Pascua, a resident of Barangay Poblacion and a retired police colonel who served for 33 years. He has four children.
Under Muntinlupa City Ordinance No. 2018-147, all residents who turn 100 are eligible to receive the cash gift. This is also in accordance with Republic Act 10868 (Centenarians Act of 2016), which grants cash gift to those who turn 100.
We gave a P100,000 cash gift to Tatay Lumeng Pascua from Brgy. Poblacion, and I can say, he is the living definition of strength and vitality. At first glance, I didn't think he was a centenarian. He is still sharp-minded, straightforward, and has a really strong body. He was the one who welcomed and greeted me),” Biazon posted on Facebook. .
He added, ‘Former police officer si Tatay Lumeng; retired colonel after 33 years of service. Meron silang apat na anak )Tatay Lumeng is a former police officer; retired colonel after 33 years of service. It was fun talking to Tatay Lumeng—with so much life experience, there's never a shortage of topics. He also told me about his late wife Nanay Lumeng (yup, they have the same nickname—Iluminado and Iluminada are their real names). They have four children).”
(I asked Tatay Lumeng what his secret is for a long life. He said he doesn't have any secrets but he exercises and has no vices—healthy living, really).”
Meanwhile, the Muntinlupa Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) announced that starting Dec. 17, it will distribute allowance to those who belong to the Octogenarian Program (80 to 89 years old) of the city government.
