During a lively press conference at the Viva Cafe in Araneta City, Rabin took a moment to reflect on his preparations for his film debut. He recounted the steps he took, sharing insights with enthusiasm.
"Sobrang dami po ng workshop na pinagdaanan ko. Lagi po akong nanonood ng mga aso. Tinitignan ko sila paano sila gumalaw. Sobrang hirap po talaga. (I've been through so many workshops. I'm always watching dogs. I watch them how they move. It's really hard.)
"Clips lang po talaga ang pinanood ko. Sabi nga ni Direk (Crisanto Aquino), panoorin ko si Song Joong-ki. Pero hindi ko talaga pinanood ng buo kasi alam ko naman sa sarili ko na hindi ko magagaya yung ganun kagaling na aktor. So gumawa na lang ako sarili kong version at kumuha ako ng sariling pointer sa kanya. (I only watched clips. Director (Crisanto Aquino) said to watch Song Joong-ki. But I didn't really watch the whole thing because I knew to myself that I couldn't imitate such a great actor. So I just made my own version and took my own pointers from him)," said Rabin when asked if he had seen the original movie.
But Angela said she had watched the original Korean film several times.
"Pinanood ko uli ang movie as a refresher. Kasi gusto ko ma-digest yung movie: kung bakit ang story at bakit ganun si Sarah. Gusto ko talaga maintindihan ang movie, that's why I watched it a few times. But the challenge is yung hindi dapat ma-copy yung acting sa movie na yun. So during our workshop, pinag-aralan namin yung character namin in our own way. (I watched the movie again as a refresher. Because I wanted to digest the movie: what the story is, and why Sarah is like that. I really wanted to understand the movie, that's why I watched it a few times. But the challenge is that you shouldn't copy the acting in that movie. So during our workshop, we studied our character in our own way)," she said.

Both Rabin and Angela said they were surprised when the project was offered to them.
"Noong sinabi sa akin na may movie kami, nagulat po ako. Unexpected na blessing ito. During our workshop, sinabihan kami na sinugalan kami ng Viva. Ibig sabihin they believe in us. Big-wake up call yun na ko na lang pala ang hindi naniniwala sa sarili ko. After that, I started thinking and praying. That it was given to us for a reason. (When I was told that we had a movie, I was surprised. It was an unexpected blessing. During our workshop, we were told that Viva had gambled on us. It meant they believed in us. It was a big wake-up call, but I was the only one who didn't believe in myself. After that, I started thinking and praying. That it was given to us for a reason)," said Angela.
Rabin said they are thankful for the trust Viva Films placed in them.
"Doon pa lang sa tiwala sa amin, pinag-usapan na talaga namin na galingan dapat namin. Bukod sa first movie namin ito, hindi po ito talaga madali. Sobrang kinabahan po talaga kami. Maraming workshop kaming pinuntahan. Sobrang laking tulong sa amin ni Anna Feleo. Nagawa po niya akong werewolf. (Right from the beginning, we were confident, we talked about how we should do well. Besides being our first movie, it wasn't easy. We were really nervous. We attended many workshops. Ana Feleo was a huge help to us. She turned me into a werewolf)," the young actor said.
Asked to rate the level of their friendship, Rabin answered, "10 out of 10 na po."
Angela said, "Last time sinabi niya 9 out of 10."
On what fans should watch out for in the Philippine adaptation of the film, Director Crisanto said, "Iba ang ending nito sa original. Iniba namin. Basta abangan nila. Magugustuhan nila. (Its ending is different from the original. We changed it. Just wait for it. They'll like it.)"
Fantasy-romance
Can a wild beast learn to love? This question lies at the heart of a fantasy-romance that audiences should look forward to as Viva Films kicks off 2026 with the Philippine adaptation of the Korean movie ‘A Werewolf Boy,’ led by one of today’s fast-rising tandems, Rabin Angeles and Angela Muji.
Following their success in Viva One’s Seducing Drake Palma, a Wattpad series that has consistently stayed in the Top 10 Most Watched on the streaming platform since its release, Rabin and Angela—together known as as RabGel—now bring their chemistry to a deeper and more dramatic place in their first full-length film together.
‘A Werewolf Boy’ follows Sara, portrayed by Angela Muji, a young woman dealing with an illness that forces her family to relocate to a quiet countryside home. There, they discover a feral figure—a mysterious boy in their barn who is unable to speak and exhibits animal-like instincts—brought to life by Rabin Angeles in one of his most demanding roles to date.
Sara’s mother decides to take Boy in, and as Sara teaches him to eat, read, and behave like a human, a special connection begins to grow between them. Through their bond, Boy experiences warmth and care for the first time, while Sara finds renewed purpose in looking after him.
But Boy’s fierce attachment to her soon leads to trouble when his protective instincts attract suspicion from the community, particularly from Juancho, Sara’s arrogant suitor, who becomes determined to uncover Boy’s true nature.
When the truth about Boy’s origins emerges, Sara is forced into a heartbreaking decision to protect him—one that sets their lives on separate paths. Can a love this extraordinary survive the challenges of time and circumstance, or will the differences between them prove too great to conquer?
Under the direction of award-winning filmmaker Crisanto Aquino (My Future You, Instant Daddy), who previously guided the pair in Seducing Drake Palma, this adaptation promises a fresh emotional vision and a deeper exploration of Boy and Sara’s connection.
The original Korean film, headlined by superstars Song Joong-ki and Park Bo-young, achieved blockbuster success and became a standout in the fantasy-romance genre. Now, Rabin and Angela take on the challenge of reimagining these iconic roles for a new generation, bringing their natural chemistry to a story that has captivated audiences.
Rabin shared in an interview that he had long hoped for a project like this and considers it a significant milestone for him and Angela. In preparing for his role as Boy, he studied various wolf-themed books, series, and movies. Still, he intentionally avoided watching the original material to bring a fresh approach to his character.
Joining Rabin and Angela is a stellar ensemble led by award-winning actress Lorna Tolentino, whose special participation holds a key place in the story’s journey. Alongside her are Albie Casiño, Candy Pangilinan, Yayo Aguila, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Annika Co, Rose Van Ginkel, Angel Raymundo, Raffy Tejada, Onyl Torres, Boaz Mariano, Francis Mata, Simon Ibarra, Omar Flores, Ruslan Jacob, Luna Amor Buniag, Lui Manansala, and Kanye Avendaño, all of whom play important roles in Boy and Sara’s story.
‘A Werewolf Boy’ opens in cinemas nationwide on Jan. 14, 2026.
