Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay urged motorists to prepare for heavy traffic on Friday, Dec. 19, as the city hosts the Grand Metro Manila Film Festival Parade of Stars, kicking off the annual festival this year.
In her statement, Binay invited the public to join the celebration of Philippine cinema and witness the parade featuring the movie-themed floats of the eight official movie entries.
“We are privileged to play host to the 51st MMFF, and we welcome all the stars who will participate in the parade and spread cheer to the public this Friday,” she said.
According to the city's traffic advisory on the said date, the parade route will pass through the heart of the Central Business District, with the floats set to assemble at Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City at 1:00 p.m.
The procession will traverse key thoroughfares within Makati before culminating at Circuit Makati.
The official parade route includes the following major streets: Buendia Avenue, Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, JP Rizal Street and A. Reyes Avenue.
“We advise motorists and commuters to prepare for traffic adjustments and possible heavy congestion during the parade. But rest assured that I have directed our Public Safety Department to help manage traffic and maintain safety and order,” Binay said, adding that the city government of Makati has established close coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the MMFF’s main organizer.
The parade organizers have also been asked to help manage traffic flow and ensure the safe execution of the event.
“We invite the public to come out, line the streets, and enjoy the festive atmosphere as the stars of the eight official entries ride their movie-themed floats. Let us support Philippine cinema,” the mayor said.
The MMFF tradition continues its run, with all movie theaters across Metro Manila scheduled to screen the official MMFF entries from Dec. 25, 2025, through the first week of January 2026.
