Kickboxer Zyra Bon-as nabbed the gold medal in women’s 48kg low kick event after outdueling hometown bet Jantakarn Manoban, 2-1 at the John Paul II Sports Center inside the campus of Assumption University.
“Sa final fight ko po pinakamahirap po na kalaban talaga ang kaba. Dahil host country ang kalaban at Muay Thai champion po kalaro ko,” said Bon-as.
“Kaya pinatatag ko ang isipan ko para sumunod din ang puso ko at nagtiwala ako sa mga coaches at teammates ko at ang pinakamahalaga po ay ang tiwala ko sa Diyos,” she added.
Over at the Thammasat University Rangsit Campus, 17-year-old Jasmine Ramilo captured the all-round rhythmic gymnastic gold medals.
She garnered a total of 102.80 points to top the competition and grab the gold mint that was part of Team Philippines' four-gold haul in Day 7.
EJ Obiena and rowers Joanie Delgaco and Kristine Paraon were the other gold winners as Team PH improved to 29 golds, 45 silvers and 94 bronzes.
Other winners were Charmaine Andres and Nathaniel Perez who won the bronze in the men’s and women’s individual sabre in fencing and Islay Bomogao and Philipe Delarmino in the senior wai kru male and female, as well as Floryvic Montero in the women’s 51kg and Matthew Bane Comicho in the men’s 67kg.
