Iloilo shines in DILG EXCELL Awards

ILOILO CITY -- Local government units (LGUs) in Iloilo province and several towns bagged multiple Excellence in Local Governance (EXCELL) Awards from the Western Visayas regional office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

The provincial government under Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. garnered key 2025 EXCELL Awards, including champion in the Sustainable Development Goal Achievement Award for its zero open toilet program implemented by the Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO).

The Iloilo provincial government also bagged the EXCELL Award in:

- Health Compliance and Responsiveness for Road to Zero: Movement for a Rabies-Free Province of Iloilo

- Sustainable Education for Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya-Development of Learning Hub

- Youth Education for the KaTUWAng Program

- Business Friendliness and Competitiveness for Institutionalizing Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion

- Safety, Peace, and Order for Best Performing Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) or City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC)

- Environmental Management for Tanum Iloilo Towards a Forest Province: Ridge to Reef (R2R) Commitment

- Disaster Preparedness for Purok Resilience Program

- Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and the Arts for Namit!: Celebrating Culinary Specialties in Iloilo Province

The LGUs of Passi City and the municipalities of Alimodian, Dingle, Leganes, Guimbal, Mina, New Lucena, and Tubungan also won the EXCELL Awards.
