President Marcos has gifted 237 families in Pasig City with P23 million worth of cash support for the purchase of the land they have been occupying for years, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said the beneficiaries are from Megaville 2 Homeowners' Association, Inc. and the Villa Soledad Homeowners' Association, Inc., both in Pasig City.
He said the 149 families in Megaville received P14 million while P9 million was given to 88 families Villa Soledad under the national mass housing’s Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP).
“The assistance secures their long-term tenure as the money was intended for land acquisition,” said Aliling.
To further ease the burden on beneficiaries, Aliling said the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) also released grants to cover the documentary stamp tax on the mortgage of both associations.
“The assistance reflects the ECMP's broader approach that does not stop at land ownership, but also addresses other financial barriers faced by low-income communities,” said Aliling.
Last week, the SHFC also released over P21 million for land acquisition to Centennial Sunrise Homeowners' Association, Inc., another ECMP community in Pasig City.
The three associations are part of the first batch of 34 ECMP projects approved nationwide, which are expected to benefit more than 5,800 families.
