BANGKOK — Islay Erika Bomogao slayed her Thai foe while LJ Rafael Yasay knocked out his Malaysian opponent to claim two Muay golds for Team Philippines in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
Bomogao edged Thai bet Arrisara Noon-Eiad, 29-28, to rule the women’s -45kg class while Yasay made quick work of Rumijam Insyad in the second round of the men’s 51kg final.
“Sobrang saya ko po kasi I won versus the host country. Yung kalaban ko po kasi superstar po siya talaga dito. So, it feels so nice to finally beat someone at that level,” said Bomogao.
