BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) formally welcomed 244 newly-recruited personnel – 187 male and 57 females – in the region on Monday, Dec. 15, during the oath-taking and turnover ceremonies at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office grandstand in Barangay Estefania in this highly-urbanized city.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, the newly-appointed recruits were formally turned over to the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division to start their structured professional formation, and then to the NIR Training Center, where they will undergo rigorous training designed to hone their discipline, operational competence, and adherence to police doctrines and core values.
Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR director, congratulated the new police officers, emphasizing that their oath binds them to the Constitution and to the people they are sworn to serve and protect.
“Congratulations to the new breed of police officers who are joining our institution built on sacrifice, discipline, and service,” he added.
Ibay urged them to carry not only the authority of the badge, but also the responsibility to act with integrity, restraint, and unwavering respect for the rule of law as their actions will now shape public trust and reflect the values of the PNP.
He reminded them that as policemen, challenges and sacrifices are inevitable.
“In every situation, let discipline, professionalism, and respect for human rights guide your actions, serve the people with fairness, compassion, and courage, and remain faithful to the rule of law,” he said.
He acknowledged the support of their families in helping them remain grounded and committed to service.
