PNP commits to solving mystery behind disappearance of bride-to-be in Quezon City
The Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed to exert all measures in solving the mystery behind the disappearance of a woman who went missing in Quezon City days before her scheduled marriage.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr. said he already directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) to validate all information gathered since the incident was reported.
“I have already tasked the Quezon City Police District to exhaust all measures to address this case. All our units in Metro Manila and nearby areas were also alerted and directed to assist,” said Nartatez.
“We assure the public that we will exert all the efforts to find her and determine the circumstances surrounding her disappearance,” he added.
Sherra De Juan, 30, went missing four days before her scheduled wedding on December 14 and Nartatez stressed all angles will be thoroughly pursued to ensure the swift resolution of the case.
De Juan was reported to have texted her fiancé, Mark Arjay Reyes, on Dec. 10 that she would go to Fairview Center Mall to buy her wedding shoes but she never returned home.
Police said De Juan left her cellphone at home while charging but the device is now in police custody for forensic analysis.
Nartatez said investigators have reviewed CCTV footage, cell phone data, and witness statements, while coordination with other police units and partner agencies continues to speed up the investigation.
“We are exploring all possible angles including whether there was foul play or other circumstances surrounding her disappearance,” said Nartatez.
Nartatez also appealed to the public for assistance as he noted that community cooperation remains vital in resolving the case. He assured the public that all information provided will be treated with confidentiality.
A P20,000 reward for any information that could lead to De Juan’s whereabouts has been offered by her fiancé.
