ILOILO CITY — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. appointed Gov. Jose Enrique "Joen" Miraflores of Aklan and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Vice President for Visayas Jobert Peñaflorida as co-chairpersons of the Regional Development Council-6 in Western Visayas.
“Together with our local chief executives, regional agencies, and private sector partners, we continue to align our plans and investments for the long-term growth of our region,” said Miraflores after presiding over the fourth quarterly meeting in Iloilo City on Dec. 12.
Miraflores and Peñaflorida are co-chair of the council tasked to prioritize the development goals of the region consisting of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the regional capital of Iloilo City.
Department of Planning, Development, and Economy (DEPDev) Regional Director Arecio Casing Jr. and Assistant Regional Director Alex Aquio are the vice chairpersons of RDC-6.
Miraflores presented his priority development thrust that includes addressing flooding and climate change; food security through modern agriculture and fisheries; reliable and secure energy supply; more investments and industry development, and better connectivity.
