At a Thanksgiving gathering in Quezon City, Anthony passionately expressed his views, urging journalists to recognize the importance of factual reporting. He pointed out the media's duty to uphold truth and integrity in their craft.
"Dapat maging sensitibo tayo sa facts. Dapat meron din tayong sense of responsibility at accountability. Hindi naman pwedeng lahat sasabihin mo dahil karapatan mong magsalita. There is no such thing as absolute right or absolute freedom. Kaya kapag natatapakan na natin ang karapatan ng iba, hinay-hinay na. (We must be sensitive to facts. We must also take responsibility and be accountable. You can't say everything because you have the right to speak. There is no such thing as absolute right or absolute freedom. So when we trample on the rights of others, it's time to slow down)," said Anthony, also the CEO of Taberna Group of Companies.
The popular broadcaster believes that mainstream media and vloggers could collaborate effectively.
"Tingin ko naman ay ma-iimprove naman yung mga ginagawa ng instant journalists na natuto lang mag-video at mag-camera. Siguro matutunan lang nila yung unang tinuro sa atin sa journalism na maging factual. (What instant journalists who have just learned to make videos and use cameras can improve. Maybe they can learn what we were first taught in journalism: be factual," he said.
On fake news, Anthony said, "Maraming fake news. Biktima ako ng fake news. Inaantay ko na nga yung Maharlika na makabalik dito para maposasan. May warrant of arrest na siya. Pag-uwi siya automatic may posas na siya. Sinungaling eh. When she crossed the line, ang tinamaan dun yung anak ko bna may sakit. Very sensitive ako pagdating sa anak ko so ginawa ko yung bagay na alam ko ay nararapat which is to take legal action against her. Nag prosper naman kaso hindi na man siya umuuwi. (There's a lot of fake news. I'm a victim of fake news. I'm waiting for Maharlika to return so she can be handcuffed. She has an arrest warrant. When she comes home, she'll be handcuffed. She's lying. When she crossed the line, my child was hit, and she's sick. I'm sensitive when it comes to my child, so I did what I knew was right, which is to take legal action against her. The case prospered, but she has not returned yet.)"
As the year wraps up, Anthony said he and his family are grateful for the blessings.
"We are very blessed this year. Our mantra is to be grateful all the time. Whatever happens, nagpapasalamat kami. Yung wala lang sakit sa aming pamilya blessed na kami nun. Nanggaling lang kami sa mabigat na episode. Kaya yung wala ka lang sakit sobrang blessing na sa amin yun. (Whatever happens, we are grateful. As long as there is no illness in our family, we are already blessed. We just came from a difficult episode. So as long as you are not sick, that is a great blessing to us). But our daughter is well now," he said.
Anthony also delved into the theme of contentment. He pondered the life they now embraced, filled with rich experiences and cherished moments that shaped their journey together. He spoke of gratitude and tranquility as he reflected on the simple joys and profound connections that defined their days.
"You know pinag-usapan namin ng wife ko sabi ko ano ba ang gusto natin sa buhay natin? Kasi ang daming opportunities na dumarating. Pero sabi niya baka wala nga tayong oras sa pamilya natin kapag nangyari yun. Pinag-usapan namin ano ba ang level of contentment namin at hanggang saan ba tayo? (You know, my wife and I talked about what we want in our lives. Because there are so many opportunities coming our way, but she said we might not have time for our family when that happens. We talked about what our level of contentment is and how far we are going.)"
"So now meron kaming pitong tindahan at commissary. Eto nga lang na merong 200 employees masakit na sa ulo paano pa kung may expansion? Pwede kaming yumaman pa pero kaya ba naming ipalit ang oras sa pamilya? (So now we have seven stores and a commissary. With 200 employees, it's already a headache. What if there's an expansion? We can get even richer, but can we afford to give up time for our family?")"
"Siguro balance lang. Maginhawa naman ang buhay namin at nabibili namin ang gusto namin. Nakakabyahe kami, nakakatulong kami at may oras kami sa isa't isa. (Maybe it's just balance. Our life is comfortable, and we can buy what we want. We can travel, we help each other, and we have time for each other)," he said.
