Retired cop shot dead in Calbayog

TACLOBAN CITY – A retired police officer was shot dead in Calbayog City on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The Police Regional Office-8 strongly condemned the murder.
Investigation said the victim was gunned down in a cockpit arena.
His last assignment was Lope de Vega town, Northern Samar province where he held the rank of police executive master sergeant.
Police have launched a thorough investigation to determine the motive and identify the suspects.
All available resources have been mobilized, with close coordination ongoing among concerned law enforcement units to ensure a swift investigation and hold those responsible accountable.
Persons of interest involved in the shooting have been identified.
Police are considering personal grudge as motive for the killing. The victim was involved in a shooting incident in Calbayog in 2017.
PRO-8 urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate by providing any information that may assist in the investigation.
