Magnitude 4.2 quake jolts waters off Surigao del Norte — Phivolcs

A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck offshore of Santa Monica, Surigao del Norte on Monday morning, Dec. 15, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its Earthquake Information No. 1, the agency said the tremor occurred at 11:36 a.m.
Phivolcs said the quake was located 28 kilometers northwest of Santa Monica, Surigao del Norte, at a depth of 24 kilometers.
It noted that the quake was tectonic in origin.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs reported Instrumental Intensity III in Silago, Southern Leyte; Intensity II in Hinundayan, Southern Leyte; and Intensity I in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
The agency said it does not expect damage or aftershocks from the earthquake.
