Gasoline up by ₱0.20/L despite diesel, kerosene rollbacks on Tuesday
Pump attendants serve motorists in a gasoline station along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Friday, June 20.
Gasoline users will see another price increase this week, even as diesel and kerosene prices are set for rollbacks.
Starting Tuesday, Dec. 16, gasoline prices will increase by ₱0.20 per liter, marking a third straight week of price hikes. Meanwhile, diesel and kerosene prices are set to go down by ₱0.20 per liter.
These adjustments will be implemented by oil companies such as Seaoil, Shell Pilipinas, Petro Gazz, and Caltex, starting at 6 a.m. Cleanfuel will follow shortly after, at 8:01 a.m.
Despite the continued upward adjustment in gasoline prices, potential peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, and an optimistic supply outlook eased pressure on diesel and kerosene prices.
Asia’s production is also expected to increase due to potential output growth from China and refineries ending their maintenance season.
Crude oil output, on the other hand, may ease in the future after four years of increases. Based on the forecast of the United States (US) Energy Information Administration (EIA), crude oil production will likely decline by 100,000 barrels per day (b/d) next year, averaging 13.5 million b/d.
However, despite increased production and reduced price volatility linked to possible peace deals, the US seized an oil tanker in Venezuela last week, posing risks to supply transportation.
