ZAMBOANGA CITY – A police officer allegedly shot an intelligence operative of the Philippine Air Force involved in a love triangle here on Sunday, Dec. 14.
The victim was identified as Staff Sgt. Roliver Anang, 41.
Investigation showed that Anang was on his way to work when he spotted his wife’s vehicle parked in front of an apartment building on Montesino Drive.
He stopped to check and minutes later, his wife, Daisy, arrived together with the suspect, Police Patrolman Elshiemer S. Kamlian, assigned to Sumisip municipality, Basilan province.
Kamlian went inside the apartment, retrieved a weapon, and shot Anang.
The victim was taken to a hospital while the suspect fled on his motorcycle.
Kamlian was arrested in a follow-up operation hours later.
The Police Regional Office-9 condemned the incident and announced that an investigation is underway.
“PRO-9 strongly condemns this act of violence. We are currently conducting a thorough, impartial, and comprehensive investigation to swiftly locate, arrest, and hold the suspect accountable, ensuring that justice is served,” the PRO-9 said.
“The PNP will not tolerate any form of misconduct or criminal behavior committed by any of its members. Should the allegations be substantiated, appropriate criminal and administrative charges will be filed against the suspect.”
Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
