GENERAL SANTOS CITY – An alleged member of the Dawlah Islamiyah tagged in a string of murder cases was killed in a shootout with security forces in Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao del Sur on Sunday, Dec. 14.
Brig. Gen. Edgar Catu, 601st Infantry Brigade commander, identified the suspect as Norodin Andin, alias Kwag-Kwag.
Catu said Andin fired at troops serving an arrest warrant. Operating units returned fire and killed the suspect.
Authorities recovered a .45 caliber pistol from the suspect.
Police said the suspect allegedly murdered several individuals in Rajah Buayan town, Maguindanao del Sur this year – Guiania Gulam Mantikayan on Oct. 10; Baranda Kuta Abiden on Sept. 18; Alamansa Ambiton, principal of Sapakan Central Elementary School in Rajah Buayan on June 10; Samsudin Q. Sangeban on March 31, and Jabber Amil Ambal on Feb. 2, 2025.
Major Gen. Vladimir Cagara, 6th Infantry Division commander, lauded the successful law enforcement operation.
